There we go. New bike
all built, rigged and fitted. The bike on the bottom is the LOOK and the
one on the top is the new one, made by Specialized.
Same components with some upgrades from Shimano
Ultegra to DuraAce. What a difference in response. The LOOK
is awesome. Super fast when you're in the saddle, handles like a dream
and I love the look. I swapped frames because the LOOK was a little to
flexible for me. The Specialized is so stiff and responsive. The power
transfer from the pedals to the wheels to the road is much, much greater.
I'll do some time trials over the next few days and get a more quantitative
comparison.
Most people don't see the difference in bikes and are blown away when they see the price tags on gear like this. You can buy cars for the price of some of these rigs. Look closely at the frame geometry. The Specialized is more aggressive & aerodynamic and more suited to climbing as well as speed. The closer the tube to the wheels, the more efficient the power transfer. The LOOK is 100% carbon fiber whereas the Specialized is a marriage of carbon fiber and a special aluminum. I need to really concentrate on dropping some more weight and improving my weight to power ratio The science behind cycling, the nutrition and the technology is quite interesting.
