What Is Body Modification
Produced and Presented by Keith Alexander

click for largerKeith Alexander believes the phrase 'Body Modification' has become over used and possibly mis-understood.

This interactive presentation relies on audience participation to help demonstrate how our prejudices
and preconceptions color and inform what we feel has value and meaning.

Is a navel piercing a body modification? If so, why? Can't it easily beclick for larger removed and close over? And what does that say about play piercing? Is a simple haircut a body modification?

Presented in a call-and-response fashion, audience members are encouraged to speak out and state what the term means to them. By the end of the presentation certain themes
emerge. To some people, intention is the key to calling it a modification. To others, permanence.

What do YOU have to say?

I've done this presentation at the Labyrinth in Denver where past presenters have included: Cleo Dubois and Fakir Musafar, James Mogul and Gwen, Fetish Diva Midori and Molly Devon, for T.E.S. in New York City and at the Woodstock Tattoo and Bodyarts festival (2003 and 2004) where other presenters included Michael McCabe, Lyle Tuttle, National Geographic and Charles Gatewood.

Here are some pictures I took while at the 2003 Woodstock festival.

And here are some pictures I took while at the 2004 Woodstock festival. I also won some tattoo contests at the 2004 event. More click for largerabout that here.

The image to the right is the thank you letter I received after the Woodstock presentation. Click it for the larger version which also includes pictures of the H.R. Giger ring I was given in appreciation of my participation.
